Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
For most treks, 3–6 months advance booking is recommended, especially for the autumn peak season (September–November). The Snowman Trek should be planned 6–12 months in advance due to limited permit availability and the complexity of logistics.
It depends on the trek. Short treks like Druk Path or Chele La are suitable for reasonably fit beginners. The Jumolhari and Laya Gasa treks require prior multi-day hiking experience. The Snowman Trek demands extensive high-altitude trekking history. We'll help you choose the right trek for your experience level.
Our packages include the Bhutan Sustainable Development Fee (government levy), visa arrangements, all transport within Bhutan, hotel accommodation (pre/post trek), all camp accommodation on trek, all meals, certified guide, permits, camping equipment, trek chef, kitchen staff, and pack horses. International airfare, travel insurance, personal sleeping bag, and personal gear are not included.
Our minimum group size is 2 people. Solo travellers are welcome and we can match you with other solo trekkers who have enquired for the same dates and trek — just let us know in your enquiry. Alternatively, some solo trekkers choose to book privately at a supplemental rate.
The Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) is a per-night charge set by the Tourism Council of Bhutan, payable by all international visitors. It funds Bhutan's public services, education, healthcare, and environmental conservation programmes. The fee is included in all our quoted prices and is non-negotiable as it's a government requirement.
Safety is always the priority. If weather, illness, or altitude sickness requires cutting the trek short, our guides will arrange the safest possible descent and evacuation. This is why comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory — your policy should cover trip interruption and emergency evacuation. We will assist with all logistics and coordination.
Bhutan is consistently rated one of the safest countries in Asia for travellers of all genders. Women trekking alone or in small groups are very welcome and routinely trek with us. Our guides are professional, respectful, and experienced in supporting solo women trekkers. We are happy to discuss any specific concerns or preferences.
